COUNTRY: UK WEBPAGE: RENDERER USED: Blender TOOLS USED: Wings3D, Terragen & ter2blend RENDER TIME: 1 hours 27 minutes HARDWARE USED: Pentium 1 Ghz IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Thought about where things would look out of place and couldn't come up with anything that i thought would make a good scene. I was on the train, bored and just staring out of the window trying to come up with an idea for an image when i saw out of the window a red telephone box, not so out of place you may think, but it was standing in the middle of a field nowhere near a road or path or any kind of civilisation. Thats it i thought and the result is 'Phone a Field' DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: I created a rolling hill type landscape in terregan and covered it in a grass texture and raised the water level to create a lake. This would be the background image (sky and distant hills) and the terrain imported into blender. Using ter2blend plugin, the terrain was imported into blender. The terrains material was set so that only shadows where rendered. The fence was created in Wings3D. The posts in the fence was created from a cube that had been scaled into the right proportions then subdivided. The post was then duplicated into the seperate posts of the fence. A random noise applied to each posts vertices, produced posts that where similar but not identical. The wire part of the fence was created by creating cylinders onto each post in the places where the wire would run and orientated the same as the wire, then the faces of cylinders facing each other where joined together using the bridge function creating the wire. The phonebox was created in Wings3D from serveral cubes one each creating, the four sides, the top, the base and the phone inside. The windows where made by dividing up the mesh into sections and then using the bridge to join the two sides. The phone poles where just cylinders stretched and with a couple of cubes attached to the tops. The phone line wire was created in the same way that the fence wire was. The grass was created from a 3 sided pyramid, stretched upwards to create a thick grassy leaf shape. This shape was then duplicated ratating and scaling each time to create diffrent sizes. The leaves were then clumped into patches and placed around the fence and phonebox to give the impression of grass growing around the objects. The grass was then given a wood texture in Blender wit hplenty of noise and a green colouring giving a less plastic look. All these bits were imported into Blender. The materials were then added, and the pieces moved around until in the right positions.
