EMAIL: ffrog@geocities.com NAME: Sean O'Malley TOPIC: Imaginary Worlds COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. TITLE: MathWorld WEBPAGE: http://www.geocities.com/~ffrog RENDERER USED: POV-Ray 3.1 TOOLS USED: Moray, Paint Brush Pro (BMP->JPG), 3DMATH.PAS (mine) RENDER TIME: 0:35:44 HARDWARE USED: Cyrix 300 Mhz / 48 megs RAM IMAGE DESCRIPTION: A world entirely composed of objects created by mathematical equations. Exciting, eh? DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: Since this was about Imaginary Worlds, I wanted it to be made using completely "imaginary" objects. Every object in this scene was written from scratch using a DOS program I wrote in Turbo Pascal 6.0 for generating DXF files from mathematical equations. (Works pretty well, don't you think?) It can do polar curves, 3-D curves, or flat planes. There are NO height fields in this image! And there are NO Pov-Ray objects in this image! The problem was, it took me so long to write the program itself I hardly had time for raytracing and modelling! (And it shows.) Well, maybe it'll come in handy in the next competition? :) No source code is provided because it is HUUUUUUGE.
