TITLE: Opening Night COUNTRY: USA RENDERER USED: POV-Ray 3.0 (ah, the grunt work) TOOLS USED: Paintbrush- one texture Moray- to make it LViewPro- to convert ot HyperTerminal- to send it RENDER TIME: 1 hour, 14 minutes, 12 seconds. HARDWARE USED: Pentium 120, 24 mb. IMAGE DESCRIPTION: As the lights come up, the audience sees a stage for the very first time. It transports them into another world as only theater can. The audience instantly becomes a part of the story, as actors create the images of students in a classroom. This is theater... art in its original form. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: This image was created for two purposes. First, it is an artistic expression of the sights and emotions associated with the opening night performance of a high school play. Second, it served as a template for the creation of an actual stage, representing a classroom environment for a production "Our Miss Brooks". Almost everything in this picture was created using Moray. Most objects are created using primitives, although I used biezer patches extensively for objects like the plastic chairs, their associated chair legs, and the black curtain at the top. Also, I tried to use superquadratics whenever possible instead of cubes to give objects a sort of worn, rounded look. After finishing the Moray model, I made some minor changes by hand in the POV-Ray editing window. I used Paintbrush for making one texture. The rest of the textures used were created by me in Moray, with two exceptions: The chrome for the chair legs, and the wood on the tip of the pencil (You can barely see it...). I used the "ttf2udo" utility (packaged with Moray) to create the writing on the board, and I used LViewPro to do gamma correction, addition of text, and JPeG conversion.
