EMAIL: xeo@sprynet.com NAME: Josh Derr TOPIC: Glass COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. TITLE: Fishy COUNTRY: USA WEBPAGE: http://home.sprynet.com/sprynet/xeo RENDERER USED: Truspace v2 TOOLS USED: all objects and texture completely original RENDER TIME: 35 minutes HARDWARE USED: Pentium 200 (my new toy!) IMAGE DESCRIPTION: I sat for weeks trying to think of something different enough to enter. I know this doesn't directly relate to glass (ok, so the fishbowl is GLASS) but it was something I wanted to do anyway. Why? First, I wanted to see if I could get away with a non-perspective image. Second, I wanted to something animation like, but with a still image(This could also be one of the first entries for the proposed animation competition) I don't expect this image to do spectacular or anything, I'm mainly interested in the feedback I'll get from this slightly unorthodox image. I've also noticed one flaw in the render. If you notice the lower left bowl, you can't see the fish real well. In fact, the refraction has bent him and the bubble trail into the side wall. The only way around it is to turn of refraftion totally, which looks much better, but isn't truly-raytraced, and if the glass and water isn't ray-traced, it doesn't apply to the theme(as if it did before >) ) I'll post the other version on my web page... DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: I created a single bowl, with water, gravel, and a little coral centerpeice. Then I added the fish, animated it, and glued it to the bowl. Then I made 8 more copies of the bowl, positioned them, and set them to the approprite time frame. A few effects were added, like the water splashes, and voila! (incidentally, the fish's name is Frank)
